4. As all CN back shops converted to diesel maintenance, Stratford was selected to be the final steam shop. CNR 3552 is a western lines locomotive normally assigned to Melville, Saskatchewan.
It has come east for class repairs and is receiving some final touches to its running numbers following its overhaul. It's January 8,1959 and this engine will be the last steam locomotive to receive class repairs at Stratford. A Mikado built by Montreal Locomotive Works in September of 1923, it was retired in July of 1961. |
