Oops!March 2018, we discovered (along with some of our steely-eyed customers) that there are missing pages in the guide. Basically Section 14 Guide to Canadian Railways, pages 12, 13 and 15 are blank. Here's a formal response from Publications Committee:

Due to an error in the consolidation process, three pages in Section 14 Guide to Canadian Railways, pages 12, 13 and 15 are blank, and this error was unfortunately not noticed during subsequent review steps.

Replacement pages are available for download here which can then be printed and placed in the proper location.

We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Bytown Railway Society Publications Committee

If you've already ordered the Guide, we apologize and offer a link to a PDF file for the missing pages.

CPJust after the 2022 Canadian Trackside Guide went to press, CP changed a slew of their train numbers. Dave Stremes managed to get a list of the changes, and has compiled a PDF file of them.

[Update] August 21, 2022 Document has been updated to reflect a small change from what was first published.

“OS Don” is the story of author John F. Mellow’s early years working for the Canadian Pacific Railway in southern Ontario, giving readers a 1960s front row seat as the Canadian railway industry transitioned from traditional Morse-code telegraphy and train-orders to the present age of computer-assisted operations.

Mellow’s career as a train-order operator began at Toronto’s Don station in 1963. Before recalling his own experiences there and elsewhere on the CPR, he presents the history of Don station and its role in the operations of steam and diesel era CPR and CNR trains through Toronto’s scenic Don Valley.

A hardcover book measuring 8-1/2” x 11”, it has 128 pages with more than 160 colour and black and white photographs, as well as maps, steam locomotive assignments and a glossary.
